Listen up.
I enjoy listening to music. As do you.
Below are brief summaries on what I’ve been listening to and calling out those that I find worthy of a second listen. You’ll find links to the full album and occasionally to a curated playlist of select tracks.
Here, I am focused on those albums that, on second listen, retain the sense of discovery and magic that make me want to hear them again. And again.
I hope you enjoy. Let me know what you think via the contact link. And stay in The Sweet Spot.

You get more bounce with Curtis Counce! | Curtis Counce
Another Jazz sojourn to ease the mind during troubled times.
Uncle John’s Band | John Scofield, Vicente Archer, Bill Stewart
Jazz. What with the turmoil in the world today, it’s nice to have a calming instrumental soundtrack to help clear the mind.
Strays II | Margo Price
The great sounding Strays complemented with additional tunes from the same writing/recording sessions.
Joni Mitchell Archives, Vol. 3: The Asylum Years (1972-1975)
96 Tracks; 5Hrs 52Min. I must be a fan.
The Music of Heatmiser | Heatmiser
Elliot Smith rocked it before he was Elliott Smith. Good, fun Rock n’ Roll.
Re: This Is Why | Paramore
A ‘cover’ album of their 2023 release This Is Why. Benefits greatly from guest appearances by Foals, The Linda Lindas, Julien Baker, and others.
Strays II (Act II: Mind Travel) | Margo Price
A three-song ‘single’ and sounding very good.
Owen Temple | Rings On A Tree
A Covid-written collection of songs turned concept album. Sit back and listen to the stories.
Elisapie | Inuktitut
A cover album of classic rock songs sung in Inuit. Who knew this would be a fun listen?
Gut Punch (EP) | Meagre Martin
Boston native moves to Berlin and forms a band. The result: Meagre Martin.
Something More Than Love | Lera Lynn
Another fav of 2022, this album came in at #8 on my Top Ten list for the year.
Valley Of Heart’s Delight | Margo Cilker
High expectations for this, Margo Cilker’s sophomore album, the follow up to Pohorylle, my favorite album of 2021.
